About Josh

I’m Josh Hoveln. I’m a proud JCI member and someone who’s spent the last several years building up leaders and chapters across JCI USA.

I joined JCI Wilmington (Delaware) back in February 2019. What started as a way to get improve my resume and improve my leadership skills while being involved in my community quickly turned into something bigger. Within weeks, I was appointed Treasurer, digging into bylaws and budgets—and loving every minute of it. I took on the role of Membership Director for JCI Delaware soon after, then became Chapter President in 2020. We rolled out meaningful projects like the Wilmington Christmas Parade, Thanksgiving food baskets, and CPR trainings for the community to name a few. It was a busy, rewarding year that showed me just how powerful local impact can be. In 2021 at home in Wilmington things were still pretty locked down from the Covid-19 pandemic so I decided to continue my leadership journey by serving as the chapter president again.

In 2022, I stepped into the role of State President for JCI Delaware and helped lead the state to its biggest membership growth in over a decade. That momentum pushed me to keep going—and in 2023, I served as JCI USA’s Program Manager for Civic Leadership Certification, where I revamped the submission process to make it easier for chapters to show their impact by moving us from sending files back and forth to a google form that could be updated and progress saved throughout the year.

In 2024, I had the honor of serving as a National Vice President, focusing on partnerships. I helped strengthen our connection with organizations like United to Beat Malaria, and worked to bring our members to the table in D.C. for real advocacy and real conversations. I was also incredibly humbled to receive the Don Cavelli Memorial Award for my work in 2024 – it’s a moment I’ll never forget.

Now, I’m serving as your 2025 Deputy National President. My heart is still where it’s always been: working shoulder to shoulder with our members, finding new ways to grow, and building something that lasts—together.
